RECYCLED LEMONS IS A RECYCLED LINE, MADE OUT OF THEIR PRODUCTION WASTE, RELEASING 90% LESS CO2 EMISSIONS INTO THE ATMOSPHERE.
In order to produce shoes with the level of quality they aim at, there is a significant amount of waste that is generated. They wanted to find a solution to manage their internal waste while also preserve and protect the globe ensuring same quality and comfort standards.
More than a product, it is a conscious and determined act, willing to fight on the long term for the bigger picture, where conscious brands translate into a better planet in a continuous positive movement, a Sustainable Fashion Movement.
GREEN STEPS
They believe in a sustainable fashion world, a world where the fashion business contributes to an evolving planet and better working conditions. For this reason, they have decided to keep their manufacture local as a way to truly support the “Made in Portugal” label, fighting everyday to build a sustainable industrial project.
This goal is achieved by a combination of many small acts, which together have the power to transform conventional consumption into an ethical shopping reality.
One of the biggest steps towards the environmental sustainability of their industrial project was the installation of 900 solar panels.
Their expenditure of electricity is 3 to 5 times higher when compared to a conventional footwear company, which led Lemon Jelly shoes to take action to mitigate this reality. In addition to the solar panels installed, contracts with clean energy providers were established and today they operate with 100% renewable electrical energy.
